CLOOS and FerRobotics offer forward-looking solutions for automated grinding

Sensitive robotic elements meet high-tech automation

CLOOS and FerRobotics have been cooperating in the field of automated grinding technology since 2020. The first systems are already being used successfully by customers in various industries. The specialists for highly complex manufacturing solutions in welding and robot technology from Haiger in Hesse and the experts for sensitive robotic elements from Linz in Austria combine their core competences. As partners at eye level, they offer the best of both worlds in one complete package: While CLOOS contributes its robot and system engineering know-how to the joint projects, FerRobotics contributes its technological expertise for the grinding applications with patented force/contact intelligence. Users benefit from individual solutions through sensitive end effectors for automated grinding and deburring, close automation gaps and generate the necessary repeatability that is always combined with increased efficiency in their manufacturing processes.

"The demand for highly complex, chained production systems is constantly growing," explains Christian Landau, Head of Sales & Marketing at CLOOS. "Our customers increasingly want to integrate solutions for automated welding technology with upstream and downstream processes such as grinding in a production line."

This is why CLOOS has developed the new QIROX robot QRC-30/45/60-PL and added it to the robot portfolio. The robot is a true all-round talent with a high load capacity for a wide range of applications. The QIROX QRC-30/45/60-PL is characterised by high dynamics, a slim product design and a low net weight.

In combination with the grinding applications from FerRobotics, the QRC-30/45/60-PL offers a wide range of possibilities for different areas of application. Whether the compact eccentric grinding solution AOK Active Orbital Kit for surface treatment and preparation, the AAK Active Angular Kit for deburring and grinding with an angle grinder, the ABG Active Belt Grinder for grinding, polishing and deburring using a belt grinder and many more - users can choose between different end-of-arm tools from FerRobotics for their individual task.

"Process optimisation is more than a "nice to have" in times of Industry 4.0. Grinding, polishing and deburring are the supreme disciplines in surface treatment. Flexible, contact-intelligent automation solutions with the latest robots raise this problematic manual work to a top Industry 4.0 standard. Our process-optimised and sensitive end-of-arm comfort packages by FerRobotics solve this requirement sensibly and economically," adds Harald Gschnaidtner, Key Account Manager at FerRobotics.

"With FerRobotics, we found the right technology partner for automated grinding," emphasises Landau. "The trusting cooperation is the basis for offering our mutual customers the optimal solution.” In the future, CLOOS and FerRobotics would like to further expand their cooperation in order to make even greater use of synergies in the areas of sales and service.
