Robot exhibition in Belgrade

More than 150,000 people visited the great exhibition of robots, that was held from 24 September to 15 October and organized by the Centre for the Promotion of Science (CPN) and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade, with the desire to answer the question of how far we are from the future.
Centre for Promotion of Science in collaboration with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade, organized the first scientific-popular festival fully dedicated to robots. Event called "Days of Future - Robotics" was held in the city centre, in the gallery of the department store "Belgrade" in Knez Mihailova 5. Visitors were able to see more than 25 types of robots for different purposes and from different parts of the world.

Robotization of welding process of the brake pedals for BMW PL7 pedal assemblies

Highly productive robotic welding cells significantly reduce human impact on the quality of the product, allowing fast changes of production and thus the transition to the production of similar products, allow better use of manpower and significantly relieve the operator, so that their work is no longer tiresome. Knowing the benefits of full automation of welding cells is crucial in the planning of new projects, as well as in the design stage of robotic welding cell for welding of large quantities of identical or similar parts.

ATEC – Open Door

In October in Riga, ATEC Engineering opened the door of its company to business partners and representatives of companies engaged in plastics injection moulding. The content of the program was divided into three parts: The efficiency, accuracy and reliability - guest lecturer from business partner of Hahn Automation, Production economy by controlling the temperature, and the Baltic Plastics Academy.
ATEC Engineering company is relatively unknown in this part of Europe, therefore, a short presentation is needed. ATEC Engineering was established at the beginning of this century, as a company that represents machines and accessories for plastics injection moulding. It emerged from the company ATEC, manufacturer of injection moulded plastic products since the early nineties, with three manufacturing units located in Latvia, Sweden and Russia, and the fifty of injection molding machines.

EuroMold 2012 – 19th World's Fair of Mouldmaking, Tooling and Additive Technology

From 27 to 30 November 2012 in halls 8.0, 9.0 and 11.0, the fair centre in Frankfurt hosted for the nineteenth time the world's largest fair for mouldmaking, tooling and additive technologies. Visited by more than 55,000 visitors, who were able to tour the exhibition halls of 1050 exhibitors from 34 countries around the world. A special theme of this year's fair was the jewellery industry, whose exhibits were present at a number of exhibitions, primarily in Hall 11.0, which was given the name "House of creation". Country-partner of the Euromold 2012 was Austria.
This year's Euromold, with specialized themes for toolmaking and product development has presented to visitors almost everything that can be shown in these segments of production engineering, which has consolidated its leadership as a specialist trade fair for these areas.

Traffic on a human scale

To reduce the effect of increasing mobility for about seven billion people, scientists shape the technologies that will increase the efficiency of public and individual transport on land, water and air.
There are seven billion people living on Earth and each year there are 80 million more. People are also becoming more and more connected, and moving closer. Simultaneously with the increase in population, demands for efficient solutions for mobility increase as well. This is particularly true for the railroad, which shape the new software concepts of control, optimization of the schedule, new vehicles and the modernization of railways. To reduce the effect of increasing mobility, the researchers are developing products and solutions that will increase the efficiency of public and individual transport. Esad Jakupović

Virtual 3D touch-enabled modelling with Freeform and Freeform Plus Systems

Shaping sculptures, statues or pots of different shapes throughout history to date has not significantly changed. Sculptor takes the piece, which is usually of soft or harder materials, such as clay, wood, copper or marble, and begins to form. He slowly and steadily achieves a form that is intended with various tools. Masterful works of the great sculptors, whom we admire today, were produced this way. Since time in history has not played such role as it does today, statue or earthen pot with many details was beeing sculpted very long. And in the case of errors or repairs, the procedure lasted even longer.

Control over the entire process with an optical 3D digitizing

Full surface 3-D measurements facilitate pattern making and provide numerous benefi ts to foundries. Optical measurements are not only relevant for the inspection of castings. Integrating optical measuring systems
also improves process security in almost all stages of the production process. These systems cut production times and costs, enabling shorter lead times and reduced reject rates. Whereas companies initially often mainly
concentrate on the dimensional validation of castings, optical measuring systems can also be used to support and accelerate operations in almost all areas, from pattern and tool making, mould and core making through to first article inspection and optimization of CNC machining. General application of optical metrology in casting process chain thereby improves overall cost efficiency.

Simultaneous positioning and clamping

Zero point clamping systems on the machine create a single, reliable and accurate subsystem. This enables a flexible application of the means of production, shorter preparation time and increase of machine availability.
"Time saving in preparing is just one of the arguments for the zero point clamping system," says Robert Hartmann, head of production of the company Stark-Spannsysteme in Austrian plant in Götzis. "Adaptability and even small series and unexpected orders management are often more important," he adds. First, time saving is calculated:"Clamping of five products in one change lasts for 20 minutes. Without zero pount clamping system, mounting change would require 100 minutes, or five times as long. This means an additional 420 hours a year on the machine. "With this quick change of tools and devices and with the optimal machine occupancy, we manage to nearly double the average machine availability.
