Compact precision gating in tight spaces

10.12.2018

Very slim and compact, and able to be screwed close together into the manifold – these are the key points from the product profile of the new Slim DF 8 nozzles, which hot runner manufacturer Incoe has presented in 2018.

181202-P4The Slim DF 8 nozzles are based on the development of the Slim DF 5 nozzles, which have proven to be very successful in practical use, Incoe states. The company decided it was time to slim down the next nozzle size – DF 8 – in the Direct-Flo hot runner range.

These are the results: the outer diameter has been reduced by approximately 24 percent to 19.8 mm and the minimum possible nozzle spacing has shrunk by approximately 15 percent to 27.5 mm. The new Slim DF 8 nozzles are available in nozzle lengths of up to 240 mm or 232 mm in the case of single nozzles. The new nozzles make precise injection possible with narrow cavity distances, Incoe said.

In accordance with the usual Seal-Fit concept on Incoe products, the Slim-Flo nozzles are screwed into the manifold, producing a leak-proof connection in which the injection runners of nozzle and manifold are always aligned. This enables efficient production with multi-cavity moulds, by utilizing the benefits of the screwed-in nozzles while at the same time implementing minimum cavity distances with higher cavity numbers. Like the Slim DF 5, the Slim DF 8 is also based on the SBH heater. This was developed with reduced outer dimensions, especially for narrow cavity distances.
